## Getting Started with FSCJ Printers

FSCJ uses UniFLOW to provide convenient and secure printing, copying and scanning from the printers across all campuses and centers.

The new fleet of printers give you greater flexibility in where you work and where you collect your documents. You can send a document to your print queue from home, your office, a coffee shop or even a teacher station. Then, visit a printer at any FSCJ campus or center, scan your FSCJ ID card and release the document from your queue.

Because your document stays in the queue until you sign in at a printer, confidential information is better protected and pages are less likely to be left unattended. You are also able to retrieve documents from a convenient printer instead of returning to the location where you originally submitted the print job.

In addition to printing, you can copy documents, scan them to supported destinations and connect your Microsoft OneDrive account to print files from OneDrive or scan files directly to it.

## Important Steps for Your First Time Printing

Before using a printer for the first time, look for an email from **UniFLOW** containing your unique six-digit PIN. **This message will come from UniFLOW, not FSCJ.** You will need this PIN available when you visit a printer for the first time and to register your account with the new system.

At the printer, enter the six-digit PIN from your registration email and follow the prompts on the screen. Then, after registration, you can print from any participating FSCJ printer using either your six-digit PIN or your FSCJ ID card.

## **How to Send a Print Job **

Canon uniFLOW allows employees to send a document to a single secure print queue and release it from any uniFLOW-enabled Canon printer at the College.

Your document will not print immediately. It will remain in your secure print queue until you authenticate at a printer using your employee badge or Print PIN.

### **Send a Print Job**

1. Open the document you want to print.

2. Select **File**, and then select **Print**, as you normally would.

3. From the list of available printers, select: **FSCJ Canon uniFLOW**

4. Select the desired print settings, such as:

- Number of copies

- Although the default setting may show color as an option, most printers will only print in black and white, as they did previously.

- Single-sided or double-sided

- Page orientation
- Paper size

5. Select **Print**.

6. Go to any uniFLOW-enabled Canon printer to release the print job.

**Important**

Sending a document to the secure print queue does not immediately print the document. You must authenticate at a printer and release the job before it will print.

## **How to Release a Print Job Using Canon uniFLOW**

Documents sent to the uniFLOW secure print queue remain protected until you authenticate at a Canon printer and choose to print them. You may release your print job from any uniFLOW-enabled Canon printer in the College fleet.

**Release a Print Job**

1. Go to any uniFLOW-enabled Canon printer.

2. Authenticate using one of the following methods:

- Swipe or tap your employee badge on the printer’s badge reader.

- Select **PIN Code** and enter your assigned Print PIN.

3. From the printer’s home screen, select **Secure Print**.

4. Your available print jobs will be displayed.

5. Select the print job or jobs you want to release.

6. Review or change the available print settings, when needed.

7. Select **Print Jobs**, **Print**, or **Start**, depending on the button displayed.

8. Collect your printed documents.

9. Select **Log Out** before leaving the printer.

You may also be able to log out by swiping or tapping your badge again.

**Delete an Unneeded Print Job**

1. Open **Secure Print**.

2. Select the print job you no longer need.

3. Select **Delete**.

4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

**Protect Your Account**

Always log out before leaving the printer. Remaining logged in could allow another person to access printer functions using your account.

## Troubleshooting

**The secure print queue is not listed**

Restart the application from which you are printing. If the queue is still unavailable, restart your computer.

**My document is not displayed at the printer**

Confirm that:

- You selected **[FSCJ Secure Print Queue Name]**.

- You are logged into the printer using your own badge or Print PIN.

- The print job was successfully submitted from your computer.

See **How to Release a Print Job Using Canon uniFLOW** for additional instructions.

**My employee badge is not recognized**

Try entering your Print PIN instead.

If your badge has not yet been associated with your uniFLOW account, follow the badge-registration instructions provided during rollout or contact the FSCJ Technical Service Desk.

**My print job is not displayed**

Confirm that you:

- Sent the document to **FSCJ Canon uniFLOW**.

- Logged in using your own badge or Print PIN.

- Did not delete or cancel the print job from your computer.

**The document feeder does not detect my pages**

Remove the pages and confirm that:

- Staples and paper clips have been removed.

- The pages are aligned.

- The paper guides are positioned against the edges of the document.

- The document does not contain torn, folded, or damaged pages.

Use the scanner glass for documents that cannot safely pass through the feeder.

**My copies are cut off or the wrong size**

Confirm that the correct paper size and orientation are selected. Reposition the original on the scanner glass or adjust the document guides in the feeder.

**I did not receive my scanned document in email**

Confirm that:

- You selected the correct scan profile.

- The printer displayed a successful submission message.

- The message is not in your Junk Email folder.

- Your FSCJ email address is correct in your employee account.

Large documents may need to be divided into smaller scans.

**The printer says authorization is required**

Sign in to the FSCJ uniFLOW Online portal and authorize the OneDrive connection. You may also receive an email containing a link to complete the authorization process, depending on the final FSCJ configuration.

**My scan is not in OneDrive**

Check:

- The folder selected at the printer

- Your OneDrive **Recent** files

- The file name entered during scanning

- Whether the printer displayed a successful submission message

**If any of the above troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue please contact the Technical Service Desk:**
